What is a Reel cover?
Every Instagram Reel has a cover — the still image shown in your profile grid and in the Reels feed. Creators often design these covers carefully, and this tool saves that image in its original resolution.
Use it to back up your own Reel covers, study how other creators design their grids, or reuse a cover for cross-posting to other platforms.
Works with any public Reel
Paste a link from instagram.com/reel/ or use the share button's Copy link. Covers of Reels from private accounts can't be downloaded.
The tool reads the cover directly from Instagram's image servers, so what you save is exactly what appears in the grid — clean, sharp and without app UI.
Designing better covers
Look at the covers of the biggest accounts in your niche and you'll see a pattern: one readable frame, a consistent colour or font, and usually a short three-to-five word title. Downloading covers side by side is the fastest way to study what a cohesive grid looks like before you design your own.
- Save your own covers as a reusable style library.
- Compare your grid with three competitors by downloading their covers.
- Test whether a frame with text or a clean face-frame performs better in your grid.
